Rafael Buñuel, son of the legendary Spanish filmmaker Luis Buñuel, continues his father’s surrealistic journey, via drawings, sculptures, printmaking, and theater. Born in New York City in 1940, Rafael Buñuel spent his childhood in New York City, Hollywood, and Mexico City. Rafael has written more than twenty plays, most of which have been staged in New York and Los Angeles.While the surrealist thread runs clearly through the artists’ works, Rafael dominates his own distinct style, whose blend of subtlety, irony and keen humor is beautifully communicated in his thought provoking book of 58 drawings, Inkings.As a visual artist, Rafael has had solo exhibitions in Los Angeles, Santa Monica and Madrid. His work is placed in numerous private collections in California, New York, Mexico, Paris and Madrid. |
